"For the moment, for the long moment,we sit together in the little chariots and just spin."
I think I’m finally going to say it. We’re walking down the boards in Ocean City holding each others hands, fingers intertwined. He asks me why I’m being quiet today. I blame it on a headache and lack of sleep. He grabs my face and kisses me slightly on the forehead. Aahh, I love you, I thought, but my mouth didn’t speak. We’re walking past a pier as my focus immediately turns to the Merry-go-Round. I perk up quickly and he follows me to the line.
My mind is racing as were waiting in line to board. Do I sit on the horse by myself or the chariot so we can be together? Do I tell him that I love him now? The chariots seem a bit small, will he follow me to the seat? The gate opens and I decide to walk to the chariot. He sits next to me and smiles. “I love you,” he says. And for the moment, for the long moment, we sit together in the little chariots and just spin.
