Reflection
1. WRITING
This semester has proven to me that writing comes in many, MANY different forms. Pairing this class with my Intro To Writing Arts class was the best decision I made at Rowan so far. The two classes intertwine and really make you think about what writing truly is to me as an individual and writers in general. I was extremely excited to be given the opportunity to just sit down and write out what I've been wanting to write about for years now. I was able to put my feelings into words, pictures, letters, poems, and dances -- and still be able to convey a message I've been wanting to write about for so long now. I want to send it in to get it published, but I still feel I can work on it some more. When I feel it is ready, I will contact you (Prof Mangini) and we can talk more about sending it elsewhere. I want to be confident in my heart that it is finished. I am a single writer though and struggle when it comes to collaboration. Collaboration projects are better given towards the end of the semester when you get to know your classmates more and can choose what ones you think work best with you. Collaboration in other classes right now is more one sided. Let me rephrase that, ALL one sided. So, being able to collaborate with two very dedicated, smart, creative women was just what I needed to get through this project. It all turned out really great -- three minds combined into one documentary.

2. RESEARCH
The research done in class was very much something everyone could relate to. I still can't look at food the same. That's how I know it was effective. I feel when you read and/or watch something and it doesn't soak into your mind then you really didn't learn anything. Every time I see a piece of chicken, I am constantly wondering if it came from one of those dark coops that were shown on the movie Food Inc. When doing my Twitterive, I was able to sit down at my computer and look through many different artists, songs, lyrics, etc to find the perfect song to choreograph to. When doing so, I am doing research. I am trying to find out what movements fit best with the words and how I can convey a story through a persons body. The class blogs we did really helped me understand some of the readings more. I'm not going to lie, some of them were super boring -- then again, some really stuck. The ones that were melancholy made me want to see what others had to say about them. Did they read it as I did? Did they agree? I felt like even though the reading wasn't as intriguing, the responses that other classmates had to them were.

3. TECHNOLOGY
The best thing that you (and my IWA Prof Wolff) thought of was to communicate via Twitter. It is so quick and so readily available to all students and professors. Questions get answered much quicker than they would via email, conference, or phone call. If I had a general question I could send a simple tweet and within minutes have a response from either a classmate or a professor. It is a great tool to use in any class. My weebly site is my new favorite website to update. I, again, always wanted a reason to build my own website and let others see inside of my writing -- whether it be through blogs or writing samples. Now, I can do that. When this class is over, I am going to continue to keep up with my site. I will blog regularly and keep my writing samples updated. So, be sure to stop in and comment anytime you'd like!!! :-)
Oh, and DropBox is SOOOO last year -- SpiderOak is where it's at! And if you have your students DL it from a link that YOU send them, SpiderOak will give you extra space to store your personal items. I use it all of the time on campus. There will be days that I forget my homework and I think CRAP! Then, I just log onto SpiderOak, pull up my documents and BAM -- it's there. So, just a suggestion!
